The Ancilla Inclusive Professional Vocational School

In Uganda, 5.9% of the population is visually impaired, with 144,000 people completely blind. Many visually impaired individuals come from disadvantaged backgrounds, facing limited access to higher education and learning space customized to their educational needs and employment opportunities. The lack of professional development options hinders their integration into the workforce and perpetuates dependency.

We aim to Empower visually impaired individuals to thrive in the workforce and as entrepreneurs through inclusive vocational and professional training.

Visually impaired individuals, will be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge, self-sufficient, valued members of the workforce, and actively contribute to Uganda's national development. we shall do this by Empowerment through Vocational Training: Provide accessible vocational and professional course training for visually impaired individuals to enable employment or entrepreneurship skills. Ie Managerial, Technology and Health Courses. Advocacy for Inclusion: Champion workplace inclusion and job placement for individuals with disabilities, especially the visually impaired. Educational Collaboration: Foster partnerships between schools to enhance educational opportunities and support for visually impaired students.

School for blind Outreaches

At MULIA, we love helping lots of different people! We work with two schools for blind students nearby: Sir Appolo Kagwa SS and Salama School for the Blind. We want to make sure everyone gets to learn, no matter what! We think it's really important for these students to feel like they belong in their communities.

We also love sharing music and dance! We visit schools to teach kids fun songs and dances. It's a great way for kids to learn from each other!

And guess what? We're also working to get more books for blind students in schools all over Uganda! Books can be expensive, but we want to make sure everyone has a chance to read and learn. We hope this will help them get ready for our vocational school, where they can learn even more cool skills!

Marko Lukooya Community Library (Inclusive Library)

The Marko Lukooya Memorial Community Library is a really special place! It was one of the first initiatives for the foundation created to remember Marko Mukasa Lukooya, the grandfather of the person who started MULIA Foundation. The library is under the foundation and in the founder's home village, and it's there to help everyone in the village love reading , however focusing to bring access to reading materials to the village and surrounding schools!

We have lots of exciting things happening at the library. We have reading clubs every weekend, where we get together and enjoy stories. We also have a mobile library on mountain bikes, so we can bring books to people who might find it hard to come to the library. Plus, we have a tech hub with computers that have special software to help people who are blind, and we also have braille books. We even visit schools for the blind to share the joy of reading! Our library has over 20,000 books, including lots of cool braille stories
